Amy Teemley Lakomy

June 5, 1959 — September 17, 2025

Amy L. (Teemley) Lakomy, 66, of Burdett, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. She was born in Montour Falls, NY on June 5, 1959, to James and Nancy (Berry) Teemley.

To know Amy was to love Amy. She was a friend to all and a stranger to none. She was always ready to give a smile, a laugh or a tear. Amy began her career at the Glen National Bank. After her banking career, she moved on to working in the Watkins Glen Elementary School and then finally at the Watkins Glen High School as Library Clerk where she found her niche. She created a sacred, safe space for any and every student. Many kids took refuge in her quiet comfort in the library or in her office – whether they were seeking guidance in tough times or just needed some reassuring validation and a place to hang. Her presence was so impactful that the graduating class of 2008 dedicated its yearbook to her “in appreciation of her friendship and kindness”. You could alwayssee her big heart spilling out with obvious loving care for the students of WGHS.

Amy did incredible work for many years in honor of one of these treasured students, Liz Amisano. She was a founding member of Live Like Liz, Inc. and spent countless hours dedicating herself so generously to raise awareness of ovarian cancer as well as other philanthropic endeavors such as baking cookies for the ill and housebound elderly and rescuing and fostering stray cats and dogs in the community.

Amy will be remembered for her sweet and caring nature as well as her wicked sense of humor. She is survived by her husband, Walt Lakomy; children, Lindsay (Nathan) Boles and Cody Lakomy; grandchildren, Aurora and Austin Boles, Madison and Luke Lakomy; brothers, William (Karen) Teemley and Roger (Susan) Teemley; and special best friend, Patricia Secord Bower. She was predeceased by her parents Jim and Nancy Teemley, and infant grandson Alexander Isaiah Boles.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 27 at the Burdett Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life from 3 – 6 p.m. at the Seneca Lake Events Center.

The family would like to thank the staff at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility for their compassionate and loving care of Amy.

And to Patty Bower -- there are no words to convey our appreciation to you for your love and devotion to Amy. You allowed her to keep her dignity until the end. Everyone should have a Patty in their life. Thank you, Patty, for everything.
