Angela Marie Standish-Ives
BURDETT: It is with great sadness that we have to announce the loss of our ANGEL Angela Standish-lves of Burdett, who passed away February 12, 2022 at the age of 39.
She is survived by her loving son, whom she adored, Jacob Standish-Ives and niece Paulette Standish; mother, Mary Standish and Linwood Standish Jr., both of Burdett; sister Rebecca Standish of Dundee, and Greg Standish of Burdett; paternal grandmother, Janet Standish of Valois; maternal grandparents, Vera Giasi of Rock Stream; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Jake Ives and grandfathers, Linwood Standish Sr. and Michael Giasi.
Angela had a masters degree in special education from Grand Rapids University, Bachelor from Cortland State in Education and Bachelor in Nursing from Elmira College.
She worked at Boynton Middle School as a Special Ed Teacher. Then decided it was time to be an outstanding RN at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center. The last job was working for Tompkins County Health Department as a COVID investigator. Angela was the most incredible person if you ever got a chance to meet. She definitely impacted your life in some way and you were so very lucky to meet her. She was empathetic, encouraging and most of all humble. Her favorite thing was spending time with her son Jacob. He was her world as well as her niece, Paulette. She lived a hard life, but she always kept her head up, even when she lost her husband Jake Ives. She lived every day with such pain, she hardly showed it.
She was the toughest person you ever met, having a full body cast as a baby. Then being diagnosed with MS as a teenager, to a tumor in her back, and then a broken ankle. Through it all you would never hear a complaint from her. Oh, sweet Angela how does life go on without you? Comprehending your absence is unfathomable. Your attributes are unmeasurable. Sleep well, I'm glad you’re with your husband Jake
The family will receive friends at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Thursday (Feb. 17) from 3-5pm; followed by a time of sharing at 5pm. A Celebration of Life and reception will be held from 6-7pm at the Burdett Fire Department.
In lieu of flower, please consider a donation to support her son at www.GoFundMe.com, at “Blessings for Jacob” or the Burdett Fire Department.
