Arvine Pike

February 22, 1941 — January 17, 2018

Arvine J. Pike
Age 76, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Arvine was a kind, quiet gentle man but was also tough as nails. The weather was never too hot or too cold to tackle any project or help someone out. Arvine was a family man who loved his wife, three boys and eight grandchildren dearly. Arvine spent the last 20 years working with his son, Wade, at Pike’s Machine Shop. Arvine had a love for automobiles, flea markets, and volunteering for both the Reynoldsville Community Church Chicken Barbecue's and the Reynoldsville Community Club. He spent many hours with his dad, Leon, at gun shows, car shows and the Canandaigua Steam Pageant. Arvine had the ability to fix anything and he believed everything could be saved. He would never give up on a car, appliance, a piece of furniture or a person. Arvine’s greatest achievement was sharing his knowledge, wisdom and heartfelt love with his wife family and friends.

Arvine worked at Tompkins Community Hospital (Cayuga Medical Center) as a Special Projects Coordinator until he retired in 1996 with 35 years of service. He was a member and volunteer at the Reynoldsville Community Club; a member of the Reynoldsville United Methodist Church; Painted Post Rod and Gun Club and a lifetime member of the NRA.

Arvine is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Doris; Children, Wayne (Heidi) Pike, Wade (Tammy) Pike, and Steven (Heather) Pike; Grandchildren, Marissa, Amanda and Mitchell Pike, Alexis and Brandon Pike, and Nicholas, Brynn, and Griffin Pike; Sister Priscella (Don) Kelly, and Sisters-in-laws, Nancy (Tom) Voorheis and Carolyn (Charles) Voorheis.

The family will receive friends at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Sunday, January 21st from 2pm-3pm; followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 3:00pm; and burial Monday at 11:00am at the Hector Union Cemetery.
