Bertrand Salmirs
Aged 95, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025 at Hospicare in Ithaca, NY.
He was born February 28, 1930, in Bronx, NYC to Adolph and Mary Salmirs. A resident of Hector, NY, since 1965, he was a public school music teacher and was known as the leader of the "Bert Sal Trio'. He was a piano performance graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, and while music was his livelihood, his main interest in life was studying the perennial philosophies at Wisdom's Goldenrod, Center for Philosophic Studies in Valois, NY, under the guidance of Anthony Damiani.
He is survived by his son, Michael Salmirs (cat Nabi), daughter, Deborah Salmirs (Didier Serciat), brother, Stanley Salmirs (Eileen), former daughter-in-law, Roberta Crawford, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Teruko Salmirs and his parents.
Donations in his memory may be made to Wisdom's Goldenrod, Center for Philosophic Studies. Arrangements with Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home of Watkins Glen.
