Age 90, of Watkins Glen, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Monday (Jan. 13th) from 12noon-1:00pm; followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 1:00pm; and a committal service and burial at Lakeview Cemetery in Watkins Glen. Betty was born January 21, 1923 in Delaware, the daughter of Charles and Anna Donoho. She worked as a professional consultant for Olan Mills Photography Studio in Elmira for many years, before retiring. Betty was a lover of cats and will be missed by her loyal friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph P. Townsend; son, Ralph P. Townsend Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Rebecca Brady. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Clifford Smith, of Tennessee and Watkins Glen; four grandchildren, Bobbie Norris, Fred Major, Clifford Aree Smith, and Aerial Mae Hammil; and twelve great-grandchildren. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Humane Society of Schuyler County, PO Box 427, Montour Falls, NY 14865.
