Betty Jeanne Reno

77 passed away on October 11, 2023 in Hector, NY.  She was born on July 19, 1946 to Stephen and Dulyse Molnar in Massena, NY. She was a graduate of SUNY Oswego and subsequently worked as a teacher in the Camden Central School District for 10 years.

With her husband, Richard, she cofounded Chateau Lafayette Reneau winery in Hector in 1986, and helped mature it into a thriving business. She was an avid gardener, growing beautiful displays of flowers, fruits, and vegetables every year, which she then preserved in many ways and shared with friends and family. She was an involved member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church in Watkins Glen. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family.

She is predeceased by her husband, Richard Reno, and parents Stephen and Dulyse Molnar. She is survived by brother Robert (Mary Kay) Molnar of Tully, NY; sister Carolyn (William) Foley of Oswego, NY; stepchildren Christopher Reno of Atlanta, GA and Daphne Gruener of Durham, NC; 3 step-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday (October 19) at 11:00am at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, 905 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen; followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.  There are no prior visitation hours.  Arrangements with Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, Watkins Glen.
