David W. Boyle

Age 82 of Watkins Glen, passed away unexpectedly on August 21, 2026.

David was born in Canandaigua, NY to William and Rita Boyle.  He was a 1966 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1988, including as a P-3 Orion pilot and was deployed on the USS Saratoga as the Nuclear Weapons Officer. He was stationed at NAS Jacksonville, FL, CINCLANTFLT Fleet, Norfolk, VA and NATTC Lakehurst, NJ, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus of Canandaigua, and a member of American Legion Post 555, and Elks Lodge No. 1546, both in Watkins Glen.

He was predeceased by his parents and brothers-in-law, Jerry McKibben, Michael Potter, and Douglas Coleman.

He is survived by his three children, Catherine Boyle of Corning, Sarah Boyle of Corning, and David Boyle (Jessica Hussar Boyle) of Binghamton; former wife and mother of his children, Eileen Coleman Boyle; eight brothers and sisters, Nancy (Philip) Hickey, Karen McKibben, Kevin (Mary) Boyle, Mary Lou Potter, William (Jean) Boyle, Vicki (Frank) Mandrino, Terri (Michael) VanBrooker, and Barbara (Alexander) Walker; and six grandchildren, Brianna, Aidan, Catherine, Olivia, Charlotte Rose and Gabriel Philip.

A wake (calling hours) will be held at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Saturday (Aug 29th) from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Sunday (Aug 30th) at 1:00 pm at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen; followed by a Rite of Committal and burial with military honors at Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen.
