Deputy Sheriff David Centurelli

David L. Centurelli
Age 59, of Watkins Glen, passed peacefully on May 23, 2012 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after complications from a heart attack he suffered on March 26, 2012. Deputy Sheriff David L. Centurelli, a 34 year veteran of the Schuyler County Sheriff's Office, will be greatly missed and remembered for his many services to this county. He was the current President of the Schuyler County Deputy Sheriffs Assoc., a Watkins Glen Fire Department volunteer, past Asst. Fire Chief, past President and VP of the Watkins Glen Fire Company, Schuyler County Fire Investigator, Schuyler County Habitat for Humanity board member and volunteer, member of Montour Moose Club, and in 2008 received the “Deputy Sheriff of the Year” award. In his youth, he was very active in the Schuyler County 4-H program and helped develop the fair grounds that are still used today. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Centurelli; mother, Wanda Centurelli of Watkins Glen; sister, Linda Centurelli of Watkins Glen; brother, Richard (Anne) Centurelli of Odessa; step-children, Elena (Dean) Jenkins of Carthage, Christy Hill of Dundee, and Jared (Jamie) Hill of Dundee; 3 grandchildren, Brianna Dykes, Alex Dykes, Brennan Buono, all of Dundee; nieces, Amy and Jessica Centurelli; and numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Friday (June 1st) from 1:00-3:00pm and 6:00-9:00pm. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 520 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen; Rev. Beverly Karr-Lyon will officiate. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Humane Society of Schuyler County or the Schuyler County Habitat for Humanity. The Centurelli Family wishes to offer special thanks to the Cardiac Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital on 7-1600 and all the staff who were so good to David during his two months in their care.
