Elaine was born November 13th, 1939 in Elmira, NY. She was always proud of her Welsh heritage and was the first of her parents’ children to be born in the United States. Elaine immensely enjoyed spending time with family, friends, horseback riding, cooking and reading.

In her later years she enjoyed traveling to warm places with her children and nephews. She is most known for establishing Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards with her late husband Jerry Hazlitt. Together, in 1985 they began the immensely popular winery to reflect their fun-loving spirit, love of the land and love of making wine. The warm, casual atmosphere they created, coupled with Jerry’s award-winning wine was the foundation that has allowed the winery to grow to one of the largest in New York State.
