Elaine C. Stevens

Age 91, of Valois, passed away August 23, 2022.

 

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the Hector Presbyterian Church at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 29, 2023, followed by a reception at the church.  Her remains will be interred at the Seneca Union Cemetery that afternoon at 4:00pm.

Elaine was born and grew up in Little Gap, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Emery and Ellen Serfass.

She was predeceased by her husband, James T. Stevens; parents Emery and Ellen; father-and-mother-in-law, Oscar and Roxana Stevens; and sister, Barbara Fisher.

She studied at Gettysburg College and received her master’s from Elmira College. She taught English for 7th and 8th Grade, and later Highschool, at Watkins Glen Central School for 23 years. She was a much-loved teacher by her students. She especially loved gardening and flowers. Elaine attended the Hector Presbyterian Church for many years.
