Elizabeth H. (Bette) Kuttner Gibbons
Watkins Glen – Age 89, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away on August 25, 2018 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing facility. Bette was born in Montour Falls NY to Kenneth and Frances (Roberts) Kuttner on May 4, 1929. Bette graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1947 and later the Elmira Business Institute. She married her husband of 45 years, Edward J. Gibbons, in 1948.
Bette worked for many years for Dr. Tague and Dr. Norton in which she was proud to “keep the office going” for those great doctors. Bette later worked in the offices at the Schuyler Medical Arts facility in Montour Falls. This was another job that she enjoyed immensely.
After her retirement, and then the passing of her beloved husband, Bette continued her love of landscaping and arts and crafts. She prided herself in her landscaping and the love of her flowers. She also loved painting in her spare time and was very handy around her house and apartment as quite the “fixer upper”. In her later years, she enjoyed living at Seneca View where she gained many friends in both the residents and staff.
Bette is survived by her daughter, Mary Barnes (Phil) of Watkins Glen; and son, Edward J. Gibbons II (Julie) of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Kerry Hoover, Meagan Yaw (Scott), Grace Gibbons and Jed Gibbons; and great grandchildren, Bella Yaw and Rory Yaw. She was predeceased by her husband Edward J. Gibbons.
Family and friends are invited to the Link at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, 905 N. Decatur St. Watkins Glen on Wednesday (August 29th) from 10am-11am. A Mass of Resurrection celebrating the life of Bette will be held at 11:00am at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Watkins Glen.
Bette’s family would like to thank the staff of the Seneca View Skilled Nursing facility and Dr. Eisman for the wonderful care and love she received while she was living there.
