Elva Roberts

September 9, 1925 — March 30, 2009

Elva Warner Roberts, 83, resident of Watkins Glen, NY and Warner Road on Seneca Lake, died March 30, 2009 at the Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls.


Born in Bristol, CT, she was the daughter of Douglas and Willa Warner. She is survived by her husband Raymond Fields, her cousin, Lyman Warner of St. Petersburg and his daughters Alison, Adrian, Holly and Jeanette. She is also survived by her cousin, Edwin Warner of Arizona and his children Stephen and Melanie.


Elva received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina. She had a life-long interest in music and travel. She played oboe for several bands, including the Sun Coast Band of Sarasota, FL, the Venice Band of Venice, FL, the Corning Area Community Band and the Ithaca Band. She also played four years for the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. She found some of the greatest joy of her life swimming and water skiing at her cottage. She will be remembered playing the oboe from her porch over looking the lake and enjoying the sunset.


Friends and relatives are invited to the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., on Saturday, April 4th, from 9:00 – 10:00am; a funeral service in her memory will be immediately following at 10:00am; The Rev. Paul Bonacci will officiate; burial will be held at the Union Cemetery of Hector, Burdett, NY. Memorials in her memory may be made to an S.P.C.A. or Humane Society of one’s choice.
