Eric Lokken

84 of Burdett, NY went home to God’s care on Sunday, April 28, 2024. He was born on August 20, 1939, on his family’s farm, just outside of Burdett, NY, the son of Walter and Florence (Sally) Hyatt Lokken.

He attended school in Burdett and Watkins Glen, NY, and in 1959, purchased the farm next door to his parent’s farm which he operated for 65 years. Enlisting in the United States Army, he served from 1961 to 1964 as a Radio Relay Operator, mostly in West Germany.   Returning home, he began work with Westinghouse Electric, which later became Eaton Corporation in Horseheads, NY, where he worked for over 35 years, mainly as a machinist.

He was one of the early theatrical performers in the Burdett PTA Players, which later became the Lake Country Players, the Leader of the Outdoorsmen shooting sports 4-H Club for 10 years and was a Firefighter in the Burdett Volunteer Fire Department for over 60 years.

Eric was always willing to help a neighbor in need or mentor a youth and was well known within the Burdett community.

He was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Glenna Lokken Brotzman, and Ione Lokken Schoneman. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Pike Lokken, his sons, Ryan Lokken and Robin (Stacey) Lokken, and daughter, Dayna (Daniel) Karius, and seven grandchildren, Emily, Andrew, Jacob, and Jonathan Lokken, and Kaiden, Louden, and Austen Karius.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life, to be held at the Burdett Volunteer Fire Station at 4124 Lake Avenue, Burdett, NY from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday May 12^th. A private service and burial will be held at Hector Union Cemetery.
