Ernest M. Drake
Age 76, of Watkins Glen, passed away May 25, 2026.
He was born in Montour Falls on September 22, 1949 to Charles and Jean (Blanchard) Drake.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife Josanne, son Cory (Teri), and granddaughters Mia and Rianne. He is also survived by his siblings Sylvia (Al, deceased) Waite, Linda (Dave Costley) Richardson, and Charles (Debbie) Drake, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents and sisters Paula and Shari (Charles) Parmenter and his In-laws Anthony and Rose Pangallo.
After graduating from Corning Community College Ernie enlisted in the Navy in 1971 with his good friend (later to become his brother-in-law) Frank (Ellen) Pangallo (deceased).
He retired from the Watkins Glen Post Office after 37 years.
He married Josanne in August 1981 and they enjoyed nearly 45 years together. He deeply loved spending time with his family and extended family. They were his greatest source of joy. He loved quiet nights at home with his wife and sitting with their little dog Emma on his lap. He took great pride in working in his yard, and enjoyed watching NASCAR, going to the casino, going out to lunch, and puttering in his shed.
Ernie will be loved and missed…. forever and always
For anyone wishing to attend, there will be a memorial service with military honors at Holy Cross Cemetery, 3700 NY-14, in Watkins Glen on Tuesday June 16th at 3:00pm.
