Florence C. Wilbur
Age 89, of Station Road in Watkins Glen, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2016. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Monday, June 6, 2016 from 1pm-3pm; followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 3:00pm; Rev. Nancy Meehan-Yao officiating; burial at Glenwood Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, David “Bud” Wilbur Sr; parents, Clayton, Sr. and Belva Crout; two brothers, Claire Goltry and Arnold Crout; three sisters, Mary Yaw, Lillian Johnson and Eldred Sgrecci; son-in-law, John Pratt Sr., grandson, John Pratt Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Linda Wilbur. She is survived by four children, Richard Wilbur, Nancy Pratt, David Jr. (Donna) Wilbur, and Deborah (John) Brame; brother, Clayton (Geraldine) Crout, Jr; and sister-in-law, Carole Crout; several nieces and nephews; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In 1943, she met the love of her life, David “Bud” Wilbur and they later married on September 23, 1944. She and her husband raised their four children on a 144 acre farm in Watkins Glen. She served as a Schuyler County 4-H Leader for over 8 years. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. After her husband retired, they pursued his dream, to own a team of draft horses. They traveled the state to numerous draft horse pulling competitions, winning numerous trophies and ribbons.
