ISLEY, Frances Elizabeth Woodward


Age 76 of Watkins Glen, NY, died Thursday, October 21, 2010, at home. Frances was born in Montour Falls, October 25, 1933, the daughter of William Carlton and Ruth Barton Woodward. She graduated from Watkins Glen High School and Rochester Business Institute. She married Carl Walter Isley on November 27, 1954, at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. She was a loving wife and a proud mother of five who devoted her life to her husband and family. She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Carl, her children, Sharon (David) Herzig and

their children John and Stephanie (Nicholas) Johnson; Craig Isley (Rick Axtell); Scott (Lisa) Isley and their children Christopher, Michael, Carla, Elyse, and Olivia; Allison (Mark) Majka and their children Jordan and Sydney; and Carl (Joelle) Isley and their children Callan, Gavin, and Alana; her brother Alfred C. (Faye) Woodward and their children William (Cyndy) and family, and Marcy (Frank) Donkle and family; her brother-in-law, William (Loretta) Chapman and his children William (Claudia) Chapman and family, and Richard (Renee) Chapman and family. Frances was predeceased by her parents and sister, Mary Ruth Woodward Chapman.

Fran was a life long resident of the Watkins Glen community and a faithful supporter of St. Bonaventure University. She was a communicant of and volunteer at St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church. In addition to owning Isley Hardware with her husband and son, Craig, she also was involved with numerous other local organizations including the founding President of the Watkins Glen Jaynecees Junior Chamber of Commerce, co-chair with husband Carl of the Schuyler County Hospital Jazz Festival, and the Squires Jr. Drum and Bugle Corps.

Friends and family are invited to call Sunday, 2-4 pm at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, NY. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 am at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, Watkins Glen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
