BURGESS, Gale A. Decker

Age 68, of Ithaca and formerly of Watkins Glen, passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving children in the early morning of December 4, 2009 at Cayuga Medical Center. Gale was born on January 28, 1941 in Montour Falls, the daughter of Ira Lee and Doris Decker. She was a graduate of Watkins Glen High School Class of 1959 and a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #961 of Ithaca. Gale was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Robert J. Decker. She is survived by her three children, William V. (Megan) Field of Odessa, Synde L. Sloughter (Robert) of Newfield, Jeffrey L. House of Ithaca; brothers, David (Lois) Decker of Reading Center, Charles E. (Vicky) Decker of Watkins Glen; sister, Judy (Richard) Croft of Odessa; five grandchildren, Jennifer Caslin, Nathan and Brandon Sloughter, Amanda and Adam House; step-grandchildren, Justine Carlisle, Michelle Stout, Joseph VandeBogart, and Maria Personius; and companion, Rick Beardsley. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.; a funeral service will be held the following morning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home; burial at Beaver Dams Cemetery.
