George M. Emery, Jr.
Age 70, of Irelandville Rd., Watkins Glen, passed away January 9, 2017.
George was born in Penn Yan, NY on December 22, 1946, the son of George and Dorothy Emery. He attended Dundee and Odessa Central Schools, graduating from Odessa Central School. He honorably served in the US Navy from 1965-1967. George tremendously loved his time spent as a People Greeter at Walmart in Watkins Glen.
George was predeceased by his parents; sister, Caroline Potter of Montour Falls; and step-brother, John Coolbaugh of Arizona. He is survived his wife Julia; three children, George “Tad” (Kim) Emery, of Montour Falls, Jodi Emery of Florida, and Aaron Emery (Ashley Jayne) of Montour Falls; brother, Rev. Eugene (Donna) Emery of Rome; and 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Thursday (Jan. 19) from 1pm-3pm; followed by a memorial service at 3:00pm at the funeral home; Rev. Eugene Emery and Rev. Mike Kelly officiating. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
