HATCH, George
69, of Watkins Glen, passed away at Schuyler Hospital on December 4, 2009. There are no prior visiting hours. A memorial service was Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St James’ Episcopal Church in Watkins Glen. He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Kaminski Hatch; sons, Mark (Wendy) Hatch of Watkins Glen, and Kyle (Lori) Hatch of Millport; daughter, Renee Hatch of Watkins Glen; grandsons, Scottie Hatch and Jonathon Hatch; granddaughters, Alexis Hatch and Brianna Hatch; also several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. George was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Priscilla Hatch; brothers, James, Donald II, Richard, Ronnie and Terry Hatch; and a sister, Janice Harrian. George was born in Sayre, PA. He was a 40 year employee of the construction trades. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local Union #436 of Elmira and later the Local Iron Workers Union #60 of Syracuse. He was an ornamental, Structural and Rod Buster Iron Worker for 30 years before he retired. In 1997, George and Jeannine owned and operated Hatch’s Tavern on 4th Street in Watkins Glen until sold in 1990. George sponsored slow pitch softball teams and won many trophies. He also sponsored bowling teams, stock car racing and started the Dart League in Watkins Glen. Hatch’s Bar and Restaurant was the home of good food and sportsmen. George was an active hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors, including gardening and all animals.
