Herbert E. Sheffield, Jr.

Age 80, of Alpine, passed away at home after a two-year battle with cancer.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4pm at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen. A private committal service will be held at a later date.

Survivors include six children, Helen (Dave) Alford, Joan Kinner, Donna (Paul) Compton, Herbert E. III (Lisa) Sheffield, Debbie (Tom) Hart, and Lloyd (Becky) Sheffield; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and only brother, John.Herbert was born in Ithaca, NY, to parents Herbert Eugene, Sr. and Mabel (Stark) Sheffield. Formerly of Danby, Herb worked as a skilled carpenter, farmer and truck driver during his life.
