Joan Oswald

Age 70 of Horseheads, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Elcor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. 

Joan was born on February 20, 1953 in Corning, NY, to Henry and Waneta (Borden) Oswald, who predeceased her.

Joan lived in this area her whole life and enjoyed being a part of her community. She was a very friendly and caring woman, who loved helping people. She attended the day program at The Arc of Schuyler in Watkins Glen for many years and participated in various volunteer opportunities, including setting up at the Silver Spoon Café. Joan was an avid bowler and played in-person, on the Wii, and on her tablet! She was a member of the Elks Lodge in Horseheads, NY and enjoyed going to play bingo. Joan enjoyed looking her best and often wore dresses and jewelry and loved getting her nails done.

Joan was part of The Arc of Chemung-Schuyler family for over 20 years and she will be greatly missed! Many thanks to Elcor for her compassionate care for the last several years.

A graveside service will be held at the Woodlawn National Cemetery on Friday (Oct. 20) at 11:00am.  Arrangements entrusted to Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, Watkins Glen.
