John C. Barnes
Age 72, of Watkins Glen, passed away January 28, 2022.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., on Friday (April 29) from 11am-1pm; followed by military honors presented at 1:00pm.
John worked at Watkins Glen International Raceway as an Electrician and prior for the Village of Watkins Glen. He especially enjoyed time spent fishing and hunting with his friends.
John was born in Montour Falls, the son of John “Jack” and Mary (DeWitt) Barnes. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps. He was predeceased by his parents, and daughter Jennifer Purvis. Also, a brother and sister, William Barnes and Nancy Williams.
Survivors include two daughters, Jannie (Jason) Taft of Campbell and Dannielle Kinner of Pennsylvania. Also, sisters Patricia Henderson (Loren Walp) of Odessa and Catherine (Bob) Buckingham of California; nieces and nephews, Heather Henderson of Odessa, Chris Barnes and family of Georgia, Shannon Ortega of California, Ryan Bradley of California, Matthew Buchanan of Odessa, and Jeffery Steiner of Spencer; and one granddaughter, Jade (Joe) Taft.
