Age 76, of Ithaca, passed away January 1, 2022.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Saturday, January 15, from 11am-1:00pm; followed by a funeral home service at 1:00pm; burial at Union Cemetery of Hector.
Joyce was born in Montour Falls in 1945, the daughter of the late Lyle and Myrtle Voorheis. She is predeceased by her brother and sister, Carl (Sharon) Voorheis and Arlene Reddick; sisters-in-law, Shirley Newhart, and Donna Rogers, and brother-in-law, Robert Newhart.
She is survived by her loving husband Leon “Lee” Newhart. They celebrated their 58th Anniversary the day after Christmas. She is also survived by her three children, Ken (Nancy) Newhart of Trumansburg, Rebecca (Greg) Lee of Tennessee, and Vanessa (David Hoaglin, of Tennessee; two brothers, Melvin (Judy) Voorheis of Tennessee, and Wayne (Florence) Voorheis of Utah; three sisters, Sandra Christensen of Utah, Marilyn Cooper of Trumansburg, and Bonnie Covington of Spencer; sister-in-law Sharon Voorheis; brothers-in-law, Fred Newhart and Peters Rogers; and sister-in-law, Jacqueline Newhart; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Joyce was a life member of the NYS Button Society. She was a knowledgeable collector and dealer, sharing her passion in the communities with exhibits, shows and talks. Joyce and Lee’s favorite past-time was antiquing together in shops, homes and markets.
