Julia “Judy” (Smith) Scaptura

Age 91, of Montour Falls, NY, passed away November 19, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband Rocco R. Scaptura, sister Tina DeMott, and brother Charlie Smith. She is survived by daughters, Kathleen (Pat) Fennell, and Constance (Carl) Chiacchierini; son Richard “Rocco” (Laurie) Scaptura; and seven grandchildren, Jacqueline (Peter) Platt, Timothy (Allison) Fennell, Corinne (Michael) Salvaggio, Christie Jones, Cheri (Brian) McDermott, Anthony (Tania) Scaptura, and Charles (Sarah) Scaptura. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law, Donna Smith.

Judy was a life-long communicant of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church, where she was an active member of St. Mary’s Guild; a member of Schuyler Hospital Auxiliary; a member of the WGHS Alumni Association; a member of the Mechanics Club; and Women of the Moose.

She loved being with her family, especially on holidays. She also enjoyed playing cards, lunch with her special friends on Fridays, “coffee hour” weekday mornings with the staff of Catharine Court, and breakfast on Sunday mornings with her special friends from St. Mary’s Church.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Link room area at St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church, 905 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen on Saturday (Nov. 24th) from 9:00am-11:00am; followed by a funeral mass at 11:00am; and burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
