June Cullen

June Ellen (Spencer) Cullen

Age 94, of Watkins Glen, passed away to join her husband, the love of her life, on Sunday August 27, 2023.  She was born in Town of Reading, NY on April 21,1929.  June is predeceased by her husband, of 66 years, Edward J. Cullen.

June was a lifelong resident of Schuyler County.  She graduated from Watkins Glen High School after attending a one room schoolhouse in Reading Center, NY.  She loved her time during her youth spent on the family farm.  She was a great lover of cats!   Her many volunteer activities included: RSVP driver, Well Baby Clinic, 4-H, Boys Scout, Squires Drum and Bugle corps, Schuyler Hospital Auxiliary, American Red Cross and many, many Rotary functions. She was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow by the Watkins-Montour Rotary club in honor of her service.  She and her husband traveled internationally for many Rotary International Events.  June for many years performed with the Peach Orchard Music society with her beautiful soprano voice.  She also was an extraordinary seamstress, with many wedding gowns and wedding dresses to her credit.  She was a caring neighbor and friend.  The loving partnership she and Ed created throughout their life, in support of their family and community, is to be admired by all. Support of her family was her life’s focus; she gave them all unwavering love and care.    

June is survived by daughters Barbara (Robert) Chapman of Rock Stream, NY, Sheryl Callan, New Jersey, and son Stanley (Anna) Cullen of Rock Stream NY; brother Richard (Mary Alice) Spencer of Lyons NY, brother-in-law Charles Cullen of Pittsburgh PA, sister-in-law, Nancy Davis of Hector NY, 4 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Please join us for a celebration of her life on Saturday September 16, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Reading Community Church, Reading Center.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Humane Society of Schuyler County (124 Marina Dr. Montour Falls, NY 14865) or the Reading Center Community Church (PO Box 23, Reading Center, NY, 14876)
