Karla J. Nichols

Age 63, of Watkins Glen, passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2025 at home.

Karla was born in Montour Falls on April 20, 1962, the daughter of Richard and Jennie Raplee.

Karla was a devoted and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse, who touched the lives of many throughout her career. With a heart dedicated to caring for others, she retired from Guthrie Corning Hospital. Her dedication also extended to Schuyler Hospital and Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility, and The Falls Home in Montour Falls, as well as Absolut-Care Three Rivers Nursing Home in Painted Post, and Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath.

Karla was predeceased by her parents, her husband Lynn D. Nichols, and her sisters, Rita June Tucker, Geanna Mae Raplee, and Roxanne Perry.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lindsay and Tim Crisco, and granddaughters, Karleigh and Lilianna, all of Corning. She also leaves behind her dear siblings, Pamela Perry (Daniel), Lisa Bishop, Mike (Lisa) Raplee, and Brian Raplee, all of Watkins Glen.

Karla found immense joy in her granddaughters and her dog Ollie, and she cherished every moment spent with her family and friends. She had a love for small talk, nursing, card games, and dominos. Her creative side blossomed through jewelry making and cooking, and she relished the simple pleasures of country living—whether it was sitting on the porch, laughing over fresh coffee, indulging in shopping, or taking the time to look her best.

A celebration of Karla's life will be held at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 3rd, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. She will be buried with her parents and family at Lake View Cemetery in Watkins Glen.
