Kathryn R. Doolittle

Age 91, of Watkins Glen, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Kathryn was born in Odessa, NY on May 11, 1918, the daughter of Charles and Harriett Rundle.

Kathryn retired as the Commissioner of Social Services of Schuyler County. Throughout her lifetime, she served on several committees, boards, groups and civic organizations related to her profession and her family. Although recognized for her many volunteer efforts, she was especially proud of these three awards: Zonta Women of Achievement in 1993; Office of the Aging Volunteer of the Year in 2001; and New York Women of Distinction by Senator John R. Kuhl, Jr. in 2002.

She was predeceased by her husband John M. Doolittle in 1995. She is survived by children, Karen Bartone of Watkins Glen; John B. Doolittle (Barb Donnell) of St. Joseph, MO; Peggy (Jim) Scott of Burdett; Cheri Doolittle of Albany; and friend David Bartone; grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Confer of Crofton, MD; Tony (Sue) Bartone of Corning; Nick Bartone of Harrisburg, PA; and Kyle, Colleen and Collin Scott of Orlando, FL; great-grandchildren, Chad and Tate Confer; also Jordan, and Nicky and Cal Bartone.

The family will receive friends at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Friday, January 22, from 6:00-8:00pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 8:00pm; burial at Lakeview Cemetery.
