81, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away at home on April 15, 2016 after an extended illness surrounded by his loving family. Lauren was born on July 17, 1934 in Watkins Glen, NY, son of Gilbert E. Lodge and Edith Jones Lodge. He graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1952. After high school he worked as a meat cutter at the local Market Basket and in Elmira. He then entered the insurance business and worked for Nationwide Ins. Co., he then ended up owning his own insurance claims business. He went on to become CEO of Finger Lakes Fire and Casualty Company in Trumansburg, NY where he retired from in 1997. Lauren was very active in his community. He was an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Watkins Glen, spent 9 years on the Watkins Glen Central School board and was president the last 2 years. He was a member of the JC’s (Junior of Chamber of Commerce) in Watkins Glen and in Watertown where he lived and worked for 4 years. He was also a village trustee in Watkins Glen for 2 years. Some of the things that Lauren loved to do were remodeling the homes he lived in and woodworking projects. He was a master gardener and landscaper for all of his homes. He also loved photography and in his later years when he wasn’t able to work on his landscaping any longer, found a new hobby in painting and taught himself how to paint leaving priceless treasures for his family. Lauren is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Roseleah (Kendall) Lodge. 6 children; Susan (Bill) Edwards, Greg (Heather) Lodge, Kurt (Jane) Lodge, Kevin (Mary Beth) Lodge, Kathy (Doug) Richtmyer, and Kristy Lodge; 13 grandchildren, Chad (Jenna) Edwards, Jon (Tiffany) Edwards, Vanessa (John) West, Lauren Marie (Kyle) VanGalder, Madison and Emma Lodge, Jennifer (Dean) Ensley, Jason Lodge, Sarah and Michael Lodge, Thomas, Chase, and Walker Richtmyer; 9 great-grandchildren; Kylee, Kailyn, Logan, and Lucas Edwards, Caleb Vaow, Cadrianna and Carter Edwards, Autumn and Eden West, and he anticipated the arrival of Baby Girl VanGalder, brother Robert Lodge, sister Linda Gibson, and many special cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Richard Lodge. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Royce Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday April 18th 2016, at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church, 520 N. Decatur St. in Watkins Glen. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
