Marlene Rozell

Marlene M. Rozell, age 75, formerly a resident of many years at Carpenter Apartments in Elmira, NY, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012, after a short stay at the VA Medical Center in Bath, NY. She was the daughter of Hazel Kentch Ross and Charles C. Ross of Elmira Heights, NY. She is survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law, Carole E. Clemens and Buddy A. Clemens of Horseheads, NY and of other relatives and many caring friends. Marlene will be remembered for her involvement in fund raisers for the residents of Carpenter Apartments, helping the elderly by taking them to the store, shopping for them and taking them for medical appointments, playing Santa Clause at their Christmas Dinners and obtaining all the gifts. She was a great lover of cats, wrote prose and poetry and enjoyed gaming of any kind. Marlene was a beachcomber at heart and lived for many years in Long Beach Island, NJ and Colonial Beach, Virginia. She also resided in Falls Church, VA with her best friend Don Rose Adams for many years. Marlene was a very proud Marine (rank of Sergeant) who served our country from 1/27/55 until 1/26/58. There will be no calling hours, but a Military Memorial Service is being planned in July and will be announced at a later date.
