With deep sadness, our family announces the passing of Mary Tichenor Davis Berry, on October 20, 2026, ten days shy of her 106th birthday.
She was predeceased by her parents George and Ada Tichenor, her first husband Kenneth H. Davis, son Richard B. Davis, and her second husband James E. Berry, after 64 years of marriage, her daughter-in-law Carol Davis, twin brothers Gordon and Milton Tichenor, and sister Hilda Fordham.
Mary was raised on a farm in Hector NY; later moving to Watkins Glen. She was employed as a school bus driver, in retail, at Woodworth's Jewelry store, and many years at The Yankee Pedlar. Mary was involved in The American Legion Auxiliary for many years serving as their president at one point. Mary was a member of The Evening Belles' home dem group. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was a prolific knitter with many people enjoying her gifts of hats, scarves, vests, and blankets. Mary was an accomplished artist with many of her paintings hanging in people's homes. She enjoyed 30 years wintering in Florida with her husband Jim. Mary was passionate about her friends, but most passionate about her family. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, a great cook, and excellent baker. She was a wonderful grandma (Mimi), and a great-grandma (great Mimi).
Mary will be profoundly missed by her family; sons Stephen Davis, David Berry (Maria), daughter, Patricia Bain (Brian), grandchildren, Corey Bain, Scott Bain (Mary Allison), Kristina Gregory (Erik), Ryan Berry (Lindsay), Melanie Kukko, (Tyler), Vanessa Collins (Joel), great grandchildren, Alexander Berry, Kourtney and Rosalie Gregory, Beckham and Brady Collins, McKenna and Adalyn Kukko, several nieces and nephews, and special friends Marsha and Liz.
Mary will be remembered for her positive nature, and her warmth and kindness that touched so many lives.
