Mary Knapp
Age 72, of Canandaigua and Florida, and formerly Cayutaville, NY, passed away October 26, 2018.

Mary grew up in Mecklenburg, NY, the daughter of Donald and Doris (Leonard) Newgard. She was predeceased by her husband Robert E. Knapp in 1993. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Tim Kelly, John Kelly and Sally DeLong. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Teresa (Stamp) Knapp of Canandaigua; and three grandchildren, Emma, Jordan and Peyton Knapp; brother, Paul (Debbie) Kelly of Mecklenburg; sister, Sandy Kelly (Glenn Thorpe) of Freeville.

Mary (aka. Penny) was devoted to her husband, son and many pets over the years. She spent many years at Carpenter Insurance Agency, Odessa and McGille Insurance in Trumansburg. She enjoyed cooking and baking so much that later in life she worked at bakeries in New York and Florida. Her cooking was a draw to out of town friends that soon boarded at her house for hunting season. After her husband passed away, she moved to Florida and worked a variety of positions including a bakery, Signature Brands, security at the Ocala Court House and volunteered at a wildlife animal rescue

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Friday (Nov. 2nd) from 1pm-2pm; followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm. A committal service and burial will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Odessa, followed by a gathering at Lakewood Vineyards, 4024 Route 14, Watkins Glen. Those wishing may consider a memorial donation in her memory to the Schuyler County Humane Society, PO Box 427, Montour Falls, NY 14865 (or online at www.SchuylerHumane.org) You may express condolences to the family or “Light a Candle of Remembrance” online at www.RoyceChedzoy.com.
