Milo Frank Roberts
Age 84, of Dundee, NY, passed away at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, N.Y. on March 14, 2011.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Saturday, March 19, from 12:00-2:00pm; a funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home; and burial at Hillside Cemetery in Dundee.
As a businessman for 52 years in the Dundee area, he was a well-known member of the community. He owned and operated Milo Roberts Appliances with his son in law. He cared about his family first and foremost. He will be truly missed by his daughter Sharon Roberts Ossont, his son in law Richard Ossont, and his granddaughter Rebecca Shirley Ossont.
Milo was born on March 26, 1926 at Shepard Relief Hospital in Montour Falls. His parents were Claude and Grace Smalley Roberts, and was the oldest of four children. He graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1944. During World War II, he worked at the Holding Point, an Army supply depot in Horseheads. On November 4th, 1950, he married Shirley Goltry in Ross Corners, N.Y. He wired many houses before starting an appliance business with his wife Shirley Goltry Roberts in 1959.
He was a lifetime member of the Dundee Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; and took pleasure in drinking coffee with his friends at his kitchen table.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Roberts Ossont; son-in-law, Richard Ossont; and granddaughter, Rebecca Shirley Ossont of Himrod, NY; sister, Ellen Roberts Goltry of Vestal; brother, Keith Roberts and wife Penny of Honeoye; nephew, Martin Roberts and wife Peggy of Reading Center; and niece, Marlita Roberts Scheurs of Canton, NY. He is predeceased by his wife Shirley and a brother, Stanley Roberts.
