Ralph "Butch" Larson

April 7, 1939 — March 11, 2014

Ralph W. (Butch) Larson, Age 74, of Watkins Glen, was always told by his grandmother “Pearly”, who raised him, “You are only on this earth for a certain period of time.” His time was up 3/11/2014 at “Sayre Packer Hospital”, as he always referred to it; the same place he was born on 4/7/1939. He is survived by his wife, Susan A. Larson; daughters, Pam (Franklin) Switzer, Bonnie (Ed McManus) Larson; daughter–in-law, Susan D. Larson; sons, Carl (Becky) Larson and Erik (Debbie) Larson; grandchildren, Ashley & Erin Switzer, Claire & Sara McManus, Kristofer, Kendra and Katherine Larson, Bryan and Devin Larson, Elek, Tristan, Merik and Erik Jr. Larson; sister, Evelyn (Deke) Deakins; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Larson; granddaughter, Jill Susan Larson; parents Carl and Janet Larson; grandmother, Pearl Hinds; and sisters, Helen (Sis) Rennie and Doris Gurrell. Ralph was a retired Watkins Glen Police Officer with 29 ½ years of service. He recently worked at Wegman’s in Ithaca in asset protection. Both of these jobs brought him in contact with the public, who he loved spending time talking with and telling stories to anyone who would listen. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Sunday (March 16th) from 1-4 pm; followed by a funeral service at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, you may remember Ralph with a memorial donation in his memory to the PBA (Police Benevolent Association) 303 N. Franklin St. Watkins Glen, NY 14891. You may express condolences to the family or sign a guestbook online at www.Royce-Chedzoy.com.
