Raymond H. Hornbrook

Age 70, of Alpine, NY, passed away September 21, 2026, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathy; their children, Raymond Hornbrook of Beaver Dams, Bradley Hornbrook of Horseheads, Charity Hornbrook of Watkins Glen, Crystal (Steven) Spina of Beaver Dams, and Audrey (Michael) Bergen of Odessa; 10 grandsons, Austin, Steven, Tyler and Dominick Spina, Brayden Heady, Ethan and Logan Hornbrook, Bailey Hornbrook, and Jacob and Liam Mayette; and 2 great-grandchildren, Steven and Parker Spina; and several nieces nephews and cousins.

In his early twenties, Ray was mentored by Fareed Abdulky a jeweler and goldsmith in Ithaca, NY. He then became a Goldsmith at Hornbrook Jewelers in Ithaca working alongside his brother for many years. He eventually branched out on his own and started a custom Jewelry and repair shop in Montour Falls and shortly after made his own shop in his home that he worked from. He was a member of the Montour Moose Club for over 37 years. He cherished every moment spent with family and friends, finding true joy in the simple gatherings that brought everyone together. Whether teaching his children and grandchildren the important lessons of life, working with his hands to create something lasting, or simply enjoying the outdoors and the company of animals, he lived with genuine presence and purpose. Known for always speaking his mind and wielding sarcasm like a second language, he brought honesty and humor to every conversation. He was a big, strong man who did everything with passion and always rooted for the underdog and stood up for the little guy. Cookouts and family get-togethers were among his greatest pleasures—times when laughter, stories, and connection filled the air he loved most.

A Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 7th from 1-5 PM at the Montour Moose Club; with a Memorial Service and time of sharing at 2:00 PM.
