Age 85, of Watkins Glen, passed away on June 10, 2016. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home on Friday (June 17th) from 1pm-3pm; followed by a funeral service at 3:00pm at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Union Cemetery of Hector in Burdett. Guests are invited to join the family at the Montour Falls Moose Lodge to share memories and light refreshments following the burial. Richard was born in Tyre, NY, one of 12 children to the late Claude and Sarah Joslyn. He was also predeceased his brother, David, and two sisters, Velma Leonard and Shirley Buck. Richard is survived by his wife Jennie; three children, Susan (Howard) Reed, Richard Joslyn II, and Timothy Joslyn, all of Watkins Glen; eight brothers and sisters, Margaret States of Odessa, Edna Robbins of Georgia, Barbara (Leslie) Williams of Burlington, PA, Alice Sampson of Burlington, PA, Judy Henley of Rochester, Frank Joslyn of Watkins Glen, Claude Joslyn of Georgia, and Gary Joslyn of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Mahuta of Maryland , Jacqueline Joslyn of Arizona, and Justin (Morgan) Reed of Syracuse; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard honorably served in the US Marine Corps. He worked as a truck driver for Roadway Express, Inc. of Elmira for many years and a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen and a member of the American Legion Post #1612. He was a former member of Moose Lodge #426 and The Improved Order of Red Men #201. He was also a member of the former Schuyler County Fire Police Association. Richard was known as an avid Bingo and card player. Memorials in the name of Richard Joslyn may be directed to “Voluntary Services” at the Bath Veterans Center, 76 Veteran’s Ave., Bath, NY 14810.
