Robert J. Covert
Age 59, of Watkins Glen, passed away after an extended illness on Friday, November 22, 2013. The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, December 7th, from 1pm-3pm at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, followed by a memorial service at 3:00pm. Robert was born on January 23, 1954 in Montour Falls, the son of Richard and Angelina Covert. He attended Amador High School in Pleasanton, CA, and later honorably served in the US Army. After the Army, he received his Associates degree at Corning Community and went on to serve a 25 year career as a Deputy Sheriff with the Schuyler County Sheriff’s office until he retired in 2003. Robert was predeceased by his father, Richard I. Covert; son, Richard Ellison, and brothers and sisters, Richard D. Covert, Sandra and husband James Kelley, Sharon Covert, and Timothy P. Covert. He is survived by his daughters, Zena and Elizabeth Covert (Stephen Harding), all of Watkins Glen; mother, Angelina Covert of Burdett; brothers and sisters, Cheryl (Ronald) Pike of Burdett, Michael Covert of Victor, Timothy Covert of Burdett, and Sue (Michael) Rentschler of Burdett; three grandchildren, Ellen Johnson, Devin Snow and Ilyse Harding; and five nieces and nephews, Cheryl Kelley, James (Jen) Kelley, Richard (Stacy) Pike, Brian Rentschler, and Timothy Rentschler.
