Robert Kinner

June 22, 1925 — March 26, 2014

Robert Lee (Bob) Kinner: Watkins Glen/Corning/Elmira, NY, aged 88 years, died on Wednesday March 26th at 4:45 pm after a long and amazingly beautiful life. His creative mind was strong throughout and he was surrounded by his immediate family and some wonderful friends as he left us. He was born in Elmira, NY on June 22, 1925 to Dr. Jesse Lee Kinner and Margaret Knapp Kinner. He is survived by his sister, Mary Elizabeth Kinner Shoemaker; nieces, Janet Leigh Jones (Walter), Barbara Knapp Shoemaker-Claussen (Bret) and nephew, John Arthur Shoemaker (Marianne), great-niece, Meredith Watts (John), great-nephew, Matthew Haas and special friends, Steve and Deb. Bob served his country during WWII, in Europe, where he was wounded. Bob did many things in his life from running coin laundries to working at banks -- but his forte was remodeling old buildings and turning them into something beautiful and useful such as The Red Schoolhouse in Caton, NY, and what most of you might remember was the Gallery Winehouse and Wet Goods in Corning, NY. He was a great promoter of art, music, good wine and community. He knew and loved everyone and they loved him. He is an icon in Corning and Watkins Glen and leaves behind a legacy of friendship, good works, art and love. He will be missed by all. Per his wishes there are no services planned. There will be a gathering of friends on Sunday, June 22 from 12 noon-4:00 p.m. at Seneca Lodge, 3600 Walnut Rd., Watkins Glen to have his friends all together and laugh, as he is no doubt doing right now, having a great time at his new party. Bob loved travel, and took all the side tours. He is finally in "the land of the grape and the home of the spree" He will be missed and thought of often. À bientôt dear friend. Attendees are encouraged to use the complimentary shuttle service from the Arc of Schuyler, 203 12th St., Watkins Glen. Please leave a Remembrance or “Light a Candle” in his memory online at www.Royce-Chedzoy.com. Arrangements with the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, Watkins Glen.
