Robert Paradiso

May 12, 1931 — February 28, 2017

Robert Louis Paradiso
Age 85, passed away on Feb. 28, 2017 at his home in Watkins Glen.
Robert “Bob” was born May 12, 1931 to Ratsie and Lela Keifer Paradiso. He lost his mother, Lela, as an infant. He was predeceased by his father, Ratsie, stepmother Angie Paradiso Specchio, brother Jim, sister Cliss, and sister-in-law Carole (Paul) Paradiso. He was survived by his brother Paul, and sisters, Mary (David) Cook, and JoPat (Jack) Wright.

Bob grew up in Watkins Glen and graduated seventh in his class from WGHS. He served his country for three years as a Master Sergeant in the Army. After the service, he attended Ryder College, where he was selected for "Who's Who in American Colleges." He then went on to Syracuse University to obtain his Masters Degree.

He settled in Geneva, where he was employed as a Business Teacher at Geneva High School. While teaching was the love of his life, after 23 years he became Comptroller at the Geneva Federal Credit Union until retirement.

During his 60-year residency he made friends and a very special group he considered family. He was well liked by all and forever popular. To his Geneva High School students he was the unforgettable "Mr. P." To the young family members and the kids on the street, he was simply known as "Unk." Bob had a very special cousin, Lee Potter, and very dear friends Anna Jean DeDominicis, the Zakour family, Barb Essa, Jewel Hara, Azizeh Baroody, and Tony Cannuli.

With failing health, Bob returned to his hometown, where he had the support of his family.
At Bob's request, a celebration of his life will be held at the Elks Club in Watkins Glen for friends and family in the spring. (Date and time will be announced later.)
