Roseleah Lodge

May 19, 1935 — January 23, 2023

Roseleah H. Lodge

87, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away at Schuyler Hospital on January 23, 2023 after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Roseleah was born on May 19, 1935 in Montour Falls, NY, daughter of Ralph C.  Kendall and Rosella M. Fowler. She graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1952.

After high school, she completed her nursing education in Rochester to become a Registered Nurse. She worked at Schuyler Hospital for over 40 years, wearing many hats. She was an OB nurse, ER nurse, Director of Nursing, established the hospital’s first Personnel Department and served as Personnel Director for many years. She went back to school to get her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, all while working full time and helping to raise her 6 children. She went on to become Vice President of Schuyler Hospital until she retired in 1996.

Roseleah was very active in her church. She served as an Elder, Ruling Elder, and up until she passed away, she faithfully served as the financial Secretary since about 2006. She also was a member of the choir for many, many years and was honored with the Woman of Faith award in 2011.

She was a fantastic knitter and, also loved to crochet. Her lasting legacy will be all of the countless baby blankets and of course dozens of Christmas stockings that she knitted for so many families and friends.

She also had a love of cooking and baking. There was a time when she cooked for a crowd every Thursday evening, and family and friends would gather in Roseleah and Laurens garage to feast.

She was best known for her Oyster stew at our family Christmases, party mix, pumpkin roll, and a variety of cookies, throughout the holidays.

She gathered once a month, with the women she called family and friends known as the “cookie club”, to go out to lunch and just be together. Her favorite drink when out to lunch was a frozen Margarita.

She and Lauren were avid boaters in their day and traveling, especially after they both retired. The last couple of years she spent time with some of her children and sister-in-law every Monday to enjoy a glass of Chardonnay.

Roseleah was predeceased by her brothers, David and Edward Kendall, as well as the love of her life, Lauren Lodge, who passed away on April 15, 2016.

She is survived by her 6 children Susan (Bill) Edwards, Greg (Heather) Lodge, Kurt (Jane) Lodge, Kevin (MaryBeth) Lodge, Kathy (Doug) Richtmyer, and Kristy Lodge; 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson on the way; special sister-in-law Linda Gibson, and many nieces and nephews.
