Age 84, of Dundee, NY, passed away July 26, 2018.
The family will receive friends at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Sunday (July 29th) from 12pm-2:00pm. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm at the funeral home; followed by a committal service and military honors at Cayuta Cemetery.
Jack was born on May 27, 1934 in Odessa, NY, the son of Clarence and Elva (Dean) Terry. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the US Army and served in Fort Knox, KY. He followed a career in marine mechanics, and co-owned Glen Harbor Marina in Watkins Glen (1972-1986) and most recently RJ Marine (1988-2015) in Dundee. He was a lifelong member of the International Association of Machinist AFL-CIO. He also loved the outdoors, especially hunting, flowers and wildlife.
He was predeceased by his parents, as well as infant daughters, Cheryl Sue and Sharon Kay and his brother, Robert Terry. Survivors include his daughter, Connie Jo Terry of Prattsburgh; sisters, Ruby Humphry of Burdett, Sylvia Bowers of Mansfield, Arlene Ballings of Chemung, and Carol Smith of Mansfield; and several nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Art Ryder of Dundee, Pete Lamirand of Dundee, Pete Hansberger of Watkins Glen, Elden York of PA, Roy Watson of PA, and David Haight of Montana. The family wishes to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Penn Yann for his excellent care.
