Sandra Miller

April 30, 1944 — June 18, 2016

Sandra S. Miller, 72, of Newfield, NY (formerly of Norwich, NY and Ithaca, NY) passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 surrounded by family at Cayuga Medical Center. Sandy was born in May 1944 in Lafayette, IN. As a child, Sandy was fortunate enough to travel to many locations across the world due to the demand for her father’s expertise. She worked for many years at Ithaca College, most recently as Warehouse Supervisor. She enjoyed buying and selling collectibles at various antique shows, including the long-term booth she had at Tioga Downs Antiques and General Marketplace. Sandy also sold advertising and collectible toys with her son Mark through their shared website. Sandy was well known for her quick wit, great sense of humor and her knack for puns. Frogs were her favorite and her fear of spiders might be seen as comical by some. Sandy was a loving mother and grandmother. She is predeceased by her mother and father Margaret and Floyd Slate, and her daughter Denise VanAmburg of Watkins Glen. She is survived by her sister Sally (Tom) McEnteer of Owego, NY and brother Rex (Maggie) Slate of Bulgaria. She is also survived by her son, Mark (Alicia) Miller of Moon Township, PA; son-in-law Tom VanAmburg of Watkins Glen; and three grandchildren, Brian and Jessica VanAmburg of Nashville TN, and Emily Miller, of Moon Township, PA, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Friday, June 24, 2016 at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St. in Watkins Glen from 4-6pm. A Graveside service celebrating Sandra’s life will take place at 9:30am Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Reading Center, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Heart Association (online at www.heart.org). You may express condolences to the family or "Light a Candle of Remembrance" online at www.RoyceChedzoy.com.
