Sharon Bingell
Age 73, of Watkins Glen, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Friday (April 19th), from 2-4pm and 6-7pm; followed by a funeral service at 7:00pm; Rev. Anne Campbell will officiate. The burial will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Reading Center. Sharon was born in Watkins Glen, to Lester and Florence Smalley. Sharon graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1957 and continued her studies and earned a Masters degree in Education. Sharon worked as a school teacher for the Corning City School District and retired after 38 years of teaching elementary education. She was also a former Schuyler County Legislator in later years, serving two terms until a decline in health. She was also a member of the Moose and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was predeceased by both parents, including her brother Eugene Smalley and sister Valnetta Crissinger. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Leif and Laura Bingell; brothers Robert Smalley, Thomas (Carla) Smalley, and Michael (Ida) Smalley; brother-in-law Robert Crissinger; and sister-in-law Audrey.
