Sheila Woodworth

February 14, 1956 — July 8, 2022

Sheila Rose (Smith) Woodworth

Age 66, of Hector, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on July 8, 2022.

As most of her friends know, Sheila struggled with chronic health issues for years, so we are grateful that she got to be at peace in her son’s home for however brief her time.

Sheila was born to Alfred and Vivian (Jerry) Gaunt Smith on February 14, 1956 in Waterloo, New York. She attended Watkins Glen School. She married Lawrence L. Woodworth on December 26, 1978. Sheila loved all animals, small and large. She worked with horses as a girl and young woman, later she raised cattle and worked on several dairy farms. When she could no longer do that, she fell in love with birds. She had a true gift with all creatures.

Sheila is survived by her loyal and loving husband, Larry of Hector; her son Paul and his wife Viola Woodworth of Hector; and her step-daughter, Emily Bozeat of Tennessee. She is also survived by her sister, Marsha Smith of Omak, WA; her brother, Raymond Geoffrey Smith and his wife Debra of Rock Stream, NY. She leaves 2 nephews, Micah Smith and Zachary Woodworth along with 6 nieces, Riqui Hess, Traci Fullmer, Chastain Rumsey, Leah Patel, Rachel Morgan, and Sameh Shaw. She also leaves four grandchildren and several cousins. She is predeceased by her parents and an older brother, Richard Smith.

There will be a Celebration of Life held on Saturday July 16, 2022, at her son’s home at 5837 County Rt 4 in Hector from 2pm-5pm. Burial of her ashes at Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg, NY will be done at the family’s discretion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Schuyler County Human Society
(SchuylerHumane.org) or the American Cancer Society (Cancer.org).

Arrangements with Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, Watkins Glen.
