Shirley E. (Chartrand) Kendter
Age 92, of Watkins Glen and formerly Dundee, NY, passed away on February 28, 2017.
Shirley was born in Hague, NY on April 9, 1924, one of seven children, born to John and Jane (Braley) McKee. She worked as a waitress for more than 25 years at Chef’s Diner in Montour Falls. She lived for 17 years at the Jefferson Village in Watkins Glen and recently at the Clinton Crest Manor in Penn Yan. She was predeceased by her parents, also husbands, Ovila Chartrand and Chester Kendter; son Philip J. Chartrand; brothers and sisters, Hollister, Robert and Ralph McKee, Vina Hewitt, Dorthea Train and Sally Lydecker. She is survived by three children, Mary (Lewis) Potter of Wayne, NY, Benjamin J. (Phyllis) Chartrand, of Kinderhook, NY; Timothy D. (Anita) Kendter, of Millport, NY, daughter-in-law, Janet Chartrand of Mountain Home, AK; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and family at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 12pm-1pm; followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Dundee at the convenience of the family.
