Stanley I. Chapman
Age 71, of Alpine, NY, passed away on September 13, 2014 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

The family will receive visitors at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Thursday, Sept. 18th, from 11:00am-1:00pm; followed by a memorial service at 1:00pm at the funeral home; Rev. Jeanne Bleiler will officiate. A committal service and burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery; followed by a reception at the Mechanics Club in Montour Falls.
He was predeceased by his parents, A. Nye and Mildred (Simpson) Chapman, his parents-in-law, David and Harriette Gunning; and in-laws, Donald and Linda Gunning.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jeanne Chapman; children; Kimberly (Charles) Smith of Alpine, Kelly (Mark) Hasselwander of Queensbury, and Douglas Chapman (Tracy Holdridge) of Alpine; brother, Roger Chapman of Alpine; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James (Martha) Gunning; Douglas (Debbie) Gunning, Kate (Art) Stilwell, and Mary (Don) Crippen; and nine grandchildren, Justin (Beth), Nicholas (Casie), Lucas, Emily, Mary-Kate, Ashley, Benjamin, Hannah, Colten; six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stan was a graduate of Odessa-Montour Class of 1961. He then graduated from the NYS Barbering School, and worked as a barber in Odessa and Watkins Glen. He later completed his apprenticeship to become a Master Journeyman Tool and Die Maker at Morse-Chain (Emerson Power Transmission) in Ithaca, retiring after 42 years in 2006. Stan served as past president of former Local #520 (Local #1607).
Stan was a fun-loving prankster adored by many. As a devoted family man, he was always quick with a helping hand. He was a member of the Mechanics Club and an avid bowler. Stan was a gentleman farmer, with a passion for the outdoors including fishing, hunting, and being with his beloved dogs. His greatest joy was escaping to the North Carolina beaches.
