Tonimarie F. Johnson-Brown

Jun 26, 1961 — Sep 26, 2026

Wakins Glen

Tonimarie F. Johnson-Brown, 65, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Watkins Glen, NY, on September 26, 2026, surrounded by her daughter, Christina, and close friends while in hospice care.

Born June 26, 1961, in Manhattan, Toni was raised in North Babylon, NY, by her parents, Helene and Francis Johnson, alongside her four brothers. A gifted and fiercely competitive athlete, she played varsity basketball, volleyball and softball at North Babylon High School and proudly represented Long Island and New York State in the 1976 girls national slow-pitch softball championship tournament in Coeur d’Alene.

Toni graduated from North Babylon High School in 1980. After studying Nurse Assisting through Wilson Tech, she worked for many years as a nurse’s aide, a career well suited to her caring nature. Later, she helped guide the care of her parents in their later years.

In 2020, Toni reconnected with childhood neighbor Calvin “Junney” Brown Jr., whom she married in 2023. She moved to Watkins Glen in 2022 to be closer to her daughter and family. Toni was stubborn, funny, and unapologetically herself; the kind of person you never had to wonder where you stood with. She loved her old TV shows, good food, her beloved dog Frisk, and being surrounded by the people she loved.

She is survived by her daughter, Christina Johnson (Darrin Harper); brothers Francis Ronald Johnson Jr. (Maureen) and Todd Johnson (Nancy); grandchildren Andrew Jayden Harper, Kiera Lynn Harper, Katalina Johnson and Nathaniel Johnson; her Uncle Robert Johnson (Cecile), Aunt Lenora Johnson, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Calvin, son Tasheim Johnson, parents Francis and Helene Johnson, and brothers Terrence and Trevor Johnson.
