Travis Micheler

March 8, 1974 — August 10, 2025

TRAVIS MICHELER of Peach Orchard Spur in Hector, NY passed away following a brief battle with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma on August 10, 2025, at the age of 51. Travis was born in Elmira, NY on March 8, 1974, to Kathie (William) Clark of Elmira and John Micheler of Van Etten. Travis attended Thomas A. Edison High School in Elmira Heights, NY and received his bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State College and his master’s degree in social work from Marywood University in Scranton, PA. Travis worked as a Guidance/Rehabilitation Counselor for the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Service for over 18 years.

Travis met Kirra, his future wife, and together they purchased the old Dunham’s Marina on Peach Orchard Spur in Hector, NY. Travis camped on the property for many years and had dreamed of owning something just like it someday. When the opportunity to purchase the property presented itself, they took a leap of faith and began building their home and life together.

In addition to Kirra, Travis is survived by Kirra’s daughters, Anna, Hanley, and Mikayla, whom he loved as if they were his own, his parents, his brothers Wayne and Eric Micheler, along with their children, and the family poodle, Georgia. Travis also leaves behind countless lifelong friends, colleagues, and his camp family on Peach Orchard.

Travis was predeceased by his paternal grandparents (Johann and Maria Micheler), maternal grandparents (Clifford and Maxine Grover), and his baby beagle, Jaida Micheler.

At Travis’s request, there will be no services (those that knew Travis would not be surprised of that). Travis will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Watkins Glen. A celebration of Travis’s life will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family. Individuals wishing to make a memorial donation in Travis’s honor may do so to the Beagle Freedom Project (https://bfp.org/donate/), 4804 Laurel Canyon Blvd. #534, Valley Village, CA 91607.

Condolences to the family may be expressed at his obituary guestbook at www.RoyceChedzoy.com. Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home of Watkins Glen is assisting the family.
